AUGUST KIT GDT: THE TALENTED CLAUDIA VAN ROOIJEN

Hello everyone! Claudia here with you today and I’m here sharing another layout I made using the August 2016 Kits. I have done 2 layouts at this point but I still have so much product left, I am struggling a little bit with deciding what to use first.

For this one I thought it would be nice to use the Hip Kit Exclusive Clear Stickers that were designed by me and came in this month’s Project Life Kit. I took off the banner shaped stickers and put them on a white piece of cardstock so they wouldn’t be clear anymore. Then I started putting them on my layout and played around with the positioning a little bit until I was happy with it.

I started working on some layering behind my photo and used papers from the Main Kit and Paper Kit and even a journaling card designed by Kim Watson from the Project Life Kit – I love how you can also use these cards for non Project Life related projects.

For my title I thought I would try and make it look a little more interesting so I used various stickers / thickers for it. For the ‘My’ part of my title I used the beautiful wood veneer type of alphas from the Embellishment Kit. From that same kit I added some of the adorable puffy stickers from the Crate Paper Cute Girl collection for extra interest. For ‘Sweet’ I pulled out the pretty mirror stickers from the Pink Paislee/Paige Evans Take Me Away collection which came in the Project Life Kit. And for the last part of my title I used the gorgeous thickers from the Main Kit.

I love the package of enamel dots, paperclip bows and stars sequins that came in that one so I made sure to add all of those to this layout as well – it’s like a recipe for success! I added a strip of patterned paper to both sides of the layout and decided on this really pretty subtle grey one from the Crate Paper Cute Girl collection which you’ll find in both the Main Kit and Paper Kit.

To finish off my layout I added some gold splatters by using the gold Heidi Swapp Color Shine from my stash.

I also have another small project to share today. If you are familiar with my work you will probably know that making 12×12 layouts is pretty much all I do, so when it comes to making anything other than that it can be a little bit tough for me to come up with something. For this week I thought it would be nice to make something to go in a frame.

Home Sweet home wall art by Claudia Van Rooijen

My frame size is 5″x7″ so the first thing I did was cut into a patterned paper. I’ve been really wanting to paint these wood veneer alphas from the Embellishment Kit, so I pulled those out and painted them white with a pink dip. I used acrylic paint to do that and I just used a cheap brand that I picked up at a local store. I really love how those alphas look now. I just wanted to do something simple for the frame so I wanted my title to be ‘Home Sweet Home’. I pulled in the Crate Paper Cute Girl Puffy Stickers from that same kit and pulled off the houses that were on it. I honestly didn’t know where else I would ever use them, so this was the perfect little project to use them up for.

I added a few enamel dots from the package that came in the Project Life Kit to add a little pop of color. To finish it off I mixed my paint with some water and added some pink splatters.

Thank you for joining me today, I hope you enjoyed seeing these projects. Have a great day!
