Hi everyone, it’s Andrea!  Today I want to share with you some fun planner decorating ideas using the beautiful new August Hip Kit Club kits!  I love working in my planner, and, realizing I’d gotten a little behind with my documenting and decorating, I pulled out the new August main kit and the embellishment add-on and started playing with the pretty papers and embellishments to create a new look for my planner for August.

I started by decorating the inside cover pockets and the planner cover page/dashboard. I love making different kinds of dashboards for my planners. For this month I decided to create a look that was really fun, cutesy, girly and summery, with a little bit of sassiness, too. To create my dashboard I used some pretty patterned papers from Cute Girl and a sheet of vellum (from the add-on cardstock kit) to make a cool layered effect.

I decorated the smaller front layer with some of the puffy stickers from Cute Girl, like the sweet little kitty and the script word, “Dream.”  On the vellum paper behind it, along with a couple pieces of ledger patterned paper, I used some washi tape from a previous HKC kit and some tags from the Amy Tangerine “Oh Happy Life” ephemera pack and the exclusive HKC ephemera pack to make a cool “Notes” spot in my planner.

After I finished my cover/dashboard page, I turned to the August calendar spread in my planner and started filling out the month with my schedule. I quickly realized how busy this month is actually going to be.

I decided that my decorating should reflect the busy-ness of the month and also all the exuberant, end-of-summer fun. This is reflected in the rainbow bright colors and whimsical feel of the embellishments I used, especially in the words I used to decorate my calendar.

I chose the Amy Tangerine transparency word “Crazy” and the die-cut word “Happy,” (both from the Oh Happy Life ephemera pack) plus a “captured” ephemera piece from the HKC exclusive ephemera pack to literally spell out how I expect this August to be – a crazy, happy month worth documenting.

After decorating my calendar, I decided to make an August divider page using a picture from this month. I love adding pictures into my planner. I think it helps to bring your plans to life and really show what your everyday life is like.

For the divider page I basically created a small layout using the rainbow-colored patterned paper from Cute Girl as my background. I added my picture and decorated with different embellishments from the kits to finish the layout. I also wrote the word “Hi” in a fun doodle-y fashion directly onto my page.
