Die Cuts & Watercolors on a Layout

Hey there, friends!  Missy back with you, and I’m SOOOO excited to share my first layout using the 2016 July Hip Kits!  I know I sound like a broken record, but every piece in these kits is just gorgeous.  All of the Kim Watson exclusive pieces coordinate so perfectly with the manufacturer products, and that makes it so fun and easy to put a page together.  I began with the gorgeous exclusive Art Class paper from the Main & Paper Kit and cut some of the fun hearts designed by Ashley Horton.  I used some Shimmerz sprays on my background.  I used the new Don’t Citron Me Coloringz and Shimmerz Sunny from this month’s Color Kit as well as the Jeni B Bleu Vibez and Oh Say Can U Sea Coloringz from previous kits.  I used the packaging technique and didn’t have to use any gesso to prime my page.  The exclusive papers are thick and have a great texture, so I didn’t need anything to prep the page.

I scattered all the hearts around the page and then did the same with my photos.  I wanted that watercolor paper to shine because it’s so beautiful!  I used several of Kim’s exclusive die cuts around the page as well as one of the Amy Tan Rubber Charms from the Embellishment Kit.

I dove into the Project Life Kit with these fun Becky Higgins chipboard pieces and worked in more of the exclusive die cuts.  And the puffy stickers!  Oh my gosh are they adorable.  I layered in that yellow heart and leaves under my photo.

Here’s a closer look at that area.  I added in some colored tangled thread in several places.  I love how the Shimmerz colors look on this beautiful aqua ombre background.  You can get totally different looks by adding those sprays to colored paper versus a white background.  It’s fun to experiment!

Here’s one last close-up of the title area.  I can’t brag about these green exclusive alpha puffy stickers enough.  They are perfect.  The size…the quality…the sticky factor.  Love them!  I added some pop dots to the “enjoy” die cut to add in a bit of dimension.

Here’s my process video if you’d like to watch how this layout came together.  I hope you enjoy!

Thank you so much for stopping by today, and have a great day!
