MAY GDT: THE TALENTED JEN SCHOW

Hi, it’s Jen Schow with a few more projects using the May kits. Holy cow the kits this month are amazing! I am still definitely inspired after creating several projects with them. The first one I want to share with you today is a layout celebrating me and my husband’s 13th wedding anniversary.

The journaling talks about how my husband is like Peter Pan (usually in the best ways!) so I thought it would be fun to highlight the flying aspect of Peter Pan by using some of the feathers that came in the kits.

I used a combination of exclusive die cuts and wood veneer pieces from Jillibean Soup that I re-colored with some Distress Crayons.

I also added in some of the exclusive cut aparts from the Project Life kit that went along with the theme.

I really wanted this layout to have a fun and whimsical look, so I used lots of bright colors and went with the “more is more” philosophy. 🙂

As a finishing touch, I added a few strips of patterned paper along the side with some exclusive word/phrase strips from the ephemera pack. You can see how the whole layout came together in my process video.

For my second project I created a fun little notebook that I can carry in my purse to write down the funny things my daughter says/does, or even the funny encounters I have with other people.

It was SUPER simple to make and it’s the perfect size to tuck into any bag. I folded one of the 4×6 cards from the Project Life kit in half for my cover. They are very sturdy, so it works out great. I cut some computer paper down to 5.5″ x 3.75” and folded it in half as well for the inside pages.

I stitched right down the middle, twice for stability, with my sewing machine and decorated the cover with a few bits and pieces. Easy peasy!
