Hi there, Jen Schow here and I’m super excited to be the guest designer for the amazing May kits! (see my bio below) I’m happy to share my first projects with you today and each week this month. This was one of those kits where I loved everything so much that I wanted to use all of it on my first project, but I refrained.
For some reason, I thought Disney when I saw all of these bright colors and decided to make a layout from our trip to Disneyland in 2014.
I kept the layout really clean and simple, but I did incorporate bits and pieces from my favorite products this month. Instead of creating a defined title, I thought it would be fun to cluster a bunch of words, so I grabbed my faves from the exclusive puffy stickers and ephemera pack.
I also included some of the chipboard frames from Simple Stories found in the Embellishment add-on and put little embellishments inside each one. Keeping things linear and clean allows you to mix pieces from several products like I did here. Because I kept everything fairly minimal, I added some machine stitching for some detail.
My sister’s birthday is later this month, so I decided to make a card for her. The balloon from the puffy stickers was calling to me and I created a little scene on my card front.
I started with a little bit of the Jeni B. Bleu mist from Shimmerz and used the stencil and Spun Sugar Dazzlerz from the color kit to create some fluffy clouds. I added a few enamel dots and created a sentiment with a mixture of my handwriting and some alphabet stickers from the Project Life kit.
I finished off the scene with a scalloped green puffy sticker made to look like grass.
There are so many awesome products in the kit this month that would be fantastic for creating a scene on your next project, so I hope you’ll give it a try!
