Happy Thursday, friends! Missy here, and I’m sharing a sweet layout for my mom today using the 2016 April Hip Kits. Our theme this week is Mothers, so I couldn’t resist making a layout for her using a few photos of us. I began with the Little Moments paper from Elle’s Studio from the Main Kit & Paper Kit, and I coated a good portion of it with white acrylic paint. I usually use gesso, but I wanted to try something different. The paint is much thicker, dries more opaque and a lot faster, and the surface is very smooth. I added lots of the No Yoking Coloringz from the Color Kit as well as some of the Oh Say Can U Sea and some pink from my stash. I used the packaging technique, and it worked great. I added in lots of machine stitching, and I used some of the Amy Tangerine Rub-Ons from the Main Kit. They went on VERY smoothly on top of the paint!
Here you can see some of the background stitching. I love how it adds texture and color. I used several pieces of the Pinkfresh Studio washi tapes from the Main Kit on the layout as well as a few of the Project Life cards. I fussy cut some of the pretty butterflies from the Maggie Holmes paper.
I just love these Pinkfresh Studio acetate words! Have you used any of those yet? There are a TON of them in the package! I overlapped these two, and my favorite thing about them is if you layer them on top of each other or over a colored spot, you get a brand new color. I love the green created with the blue “capture” over the yellow spray! I decided to create a “brad” using the Shimelle metal paper clip…I just cut the clip part off and treated it like a brad or a piece of flair. Those are included in the Project Life Kit.
Here I used more rub-ons and some of the Pinkfresh Rubber Charms. They are so fun and different! I love the impact they make here on top of the photo.
Here’s one more look at the top part of the page. More stitching, some tangled thread and a pretty butterfly layered in…and that’s a Project Life card and some Elle’s Studio paper behind my photo.
Here’s my process video if you’d like to check out how I put this page together. I hope you enjoy and get some inspiration!
Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a great day!
