Hello! I’m Michelle.
I’m super excited to be sharing a few layouts with you all as a Hip Kits Guest Designer, using the amazing January Kits. Its been hard to keep this work under wraps as the papers and products within the kits were super pretty, and the layouts turned out way better than I expected.
I’m an Aussie mum of 1, who loves to scrap! I live on the outskirts of Geelong, Victoria with my fiancé Clinton, and our 5 year old Leila. I’m a memory keeper from way back. Many albums full of precious photos and stories that we all cherish adorn the shelves in my craft room. I’ve been Scrappin’ on and off since 2004, dabbling in many different areas from traditional to mixed media plus a few years of Project Life thrown into the mix. Most of my layouts these days feature layers of pattern papers, vellum and doilies, clusters of embellishments, plenty of white space and sometimes a touch mixed media or silhouette use. I’ve worked on numerous Australian Design Teams, and more recently, I was honoured to be named as one of 10 Australian Scrapbooking Masters in a Magazine publication Scrapbooking Memories.
XOXO by Michelle Stokes
For this page I chose a photo of Leila from when she was a baby, another of her laying down looking cute. Those big eyes make me melt!
I knew for this layout, that I wanted to make an impact. So I chose a cut file designed by Nicole, enlarged it to fill up the width of the page, then backed it with the ombre paper by Crate Paper and stitched around the edge to finish it off. I’ve mounted the entire cut file with foam onto the Basic Grey ‘Maybe Paper’ and embellished around the page with a mix of items from the kits and a Crate Paper die cut pack from my stash.
Loving the teal floral paper by Basic Grey! I think I’ve used it on each project created with these kits. Along the bottom of the page I’ve added strips of paper from Crate Paper, stickers and die cuts from Crate Paper and a brad from the My Mind’s Eye pack. I may have gone a little crazy with some gold glitter paste on the XOXO wood veneer, but it turned out perfect! And it works well with the glitter hearts on the page.
Cards by Michelle Stokes
I’m happy to say that I’m not the best maker of cards, but I am happy with how these turned out. I wanted them all to be completely different and individual, and I think it worked!
To start this process I cut all the card bases from cardstock within the cardstock add on kit, then added to them with different papers and embellishments from the other January kits. For the 3rd card I used another one of the cut files by Nicole to create large hearts, and sewed them down as if to replicate a bunch of balloons. I covered the bottom of the strings, which are hanging loose, with a sequin bow from my stash. Next up I made a smaller card with some scraps of paper, a chipboard frame, sticker by My Mind’s Eye and doily from my stash.
Super simple layers and a cute little reminder to Make today Amazing! This card took no time at all once the glitter paste was dry on the veneer piece. Covering it in glitter is a great way to glam up the wood veneer & to make it stand out from the fun crazy pattern paper background! See more details in the slideshow below.
Adorbs by Michelle Stokes
For my last layout share as a Hip Kit Guest Designer, I used another photo of Leila, this time being her usual crazy faced self!
I’ve gone with a different design to my last few, but it’s yet another that I LOVE! I started with the strip of hearts paper by Crate Paper, plus a piece of vellum and some torn washi tape. Layers of papers from Basic grey and Crate paper make up the photo stack, then an abundance of embellishments in a slight diagonal/ scattered/ grouped / hard to describe but fun to make way!
That face! Goodness me it kills me lol
Love the mix of chipboard, stickers, die cuts, word stickers and banners. Lastly I’ve some gold glitter paste to the wood veneer piece match the gold glitter stickers around the page.
