Family Adventure | Christin Grønnslett

Hello everyone! Christin here today with a new layout using the 2016 February Hip Kits!  For this layout I started with my layers and made the background after.

I often work with my backgrounds and my layers in different settings. Often I make backgrounds with just a specific color theme or I am just in a mood to splash some color.  For this layout my focus was more the pictures and I wanted to use two pictures and thereby having to use bigger pieces of papers for my layers so I just went ahead with the layers.  I also have two different approaches when it comes to layering.  In a previous layout I did all the layers and just added my pictures on top. For this layout I started with the pictures and added a new layer behind the last layer. Some pieces I just tucked in between – these had to be glued on afterwards. The rest are stapled together to hold everything in place.

When all the main layers were done it was time for the background. I picked a few watercolors plus the yellow Shimmerz paint in the Color Kit and used a few stencils with the waterpaint and topped it with a stencil from a previous Color Kit with the yellow Shimmerz paint to make the page pop more.   But before I made the background I did something I rarely do (since I don’t usually start with the layers) I put my layers on my cardstock and just measured it and added a few lines to show where my layers would go.  I ended up with tucking in a few extra pieces of layers so I still ended up covering more…

Above you can see the different pieces tucked in between all the layers. The swirl and the heart I added after I taped the layers to the cardstock.

I love all the embellishments you get in the kits. You can see here the Magggie Holmes hearts, Amy Tangerine gold frames and Shimelle stickers from the February 2016 Embellishment Kit.  I also used Heidi Swapp notes and Amy Tangerine stickers and October Afternoon letters from the Project Life Kit.

As you can see I like to mix different kinds of fonts for my title, here I mixed an Amy Tangerine gold frame, with October Afternoon alphbet stickers with Amy Tangerine stickers and Shimelle cardstock stickers.

Thank you for stopping by today.
