Happy Thursday, friends! Missy here, and today I’m sharing another layout using the 2016 February Hip Kits! I couldn’t wait to use Kim Watson’s hexagon cut file, and so I created a few small ones and used them as my main background design element. I used various papers and Project Life cards to back the open areas of the cut files and layered my photos on top of them. I used a third one as a layering piece. I wanted to bring in lots of bright colors on this page, and I love how it all came together. I did my mixed media work after adhering the hexagons and photos. I used the Shimmerz Dazzlerz and Creameez from the Color Kit and a gelato from my stash along with my waterbrush to create the watercolor look around the page.
I used a hexagon punch from my stash to create smaller shapes around the layout. There are so many fun stickers and chipboard pieces this month. I used one of the Maggie Holmes clear stickers from the Project Life Kit here along with some of the Amy Tan stickers. I used the gorgeous blue circle Thickers for my title.
I did go around the edges of my design with white gesso before adding the Dazzlerz and Creameez. Here, I used more of the Amy Tan stickers, a foam heart Thicker and a chipboard piece from the Shimelle Star Shine pack.
Here’s a closer look at Kim’s cut file. It’s really fun, and you can do so many things with it! I used my sewing machine to stitch around the edges in grey thread, and then added some hot pink thread for added color and texture.
This blue color is amazing! And my sewing machine went through them with no problems. That hot pink is the washi tape from the January Embellishment Kit.
Here’s my process video for this layout…I hope you enjoy!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Ever so bright and happy and full of life, Missy! Love the hexagons, too!
