When I think of fall, I automatically think of the rich colors associated with this pretty time of year, which is why I am enjoying the October kits so much! The colors…are unpredictable yet so perfectly suited to fall crafting, which is why the page I am sharing today was so much fun to put together!

The October Color kit is so awesome this month…so it was a no-brainer to grab that adorable plus stencil, white gesso & water color pencils to create a little texture on the green ombre paper. Even though the water color wash is almost the same color as the background paper, it adds areas of visual interest, drawing ones eye diagonally across the page. Once dry, a few black paint splatters & doodled plusses, finished of things nicely.

If you are wondering how I used the pencils to create a wash effect…this is how I did it ;D

Using a craft knife, I shaved off a little of the pencil lead & added water. Being water solubile, the colored crayon dissolved into beautiful colored paint.

The already dry gesso plusses, resisted the watercolor paint with great effect!

x2 strips of the lovely Jen Hadfield 12×12″ washi tape strips found in the October Embellishment kit, was a great way to ground the page design, with my elements working both left & right of them. Layering the cluster of die-cut elements with a little foam adhesive, creates great dimension, helping draw ones eye to the main photograph.

October SUBSCRIBER print & cut sheet

I am not sure if you are aware, but as of this month, Hip Kit Club now offer their valuable subscribers even more bonus items.
