Be Cool & Wild | Kim Watson

Happy Saturday to all Hip Kit fans all over the world!

I hope you are having a great day where ever you might be & are ready for a little creative inspiration? The September kits are jam packed with amazing, BRAND new Amy Tangerine products. Being artsy, with a strong water color vibe, I was inspired to make sure to add a little mixed media to my page.

@KimWatson @HipKitClub @amytangerine @americancrafts @freckledfawn #september2015 #scrapbookingkits #papercrafts #mixedmedia When starting this design, I was determined to use the giraffe & zebra motifs. Initially when seeing them, I was worried they would be difficult to use, but do you know what…I pushed through, thought out of the box a little, with great results. This little guy inspired everything on my page!
Kim Watson+Be Cool & Wild+HK03Kim Watson+Be Cool & Wild+HK02Using an old credit card & some gesso colored with blue ink, I ‘drew’ some ‘zebra’ stripes onto a piece of white cardstock, from the cardstock add-on. The blue zebra stripes, with yellow paint splatter became the base for the layout. Kim Watson+Be Cool & Wild+HK04As you can see here, even though there are other elements layered on top, the stripes add great interest & compliment the over all vibe of the page.
Kim Watson+Be Cool & Wild+HK05Next came the paper strips. Cut from the bottoms of the patterned papers in the kit as well as a few wider ones from the Amy Tangerine papers. I notched & layered them parallel to the painted stripes, then machine stitched, creating an interesting patterned mat. Strips of washi tape from the embellishment add-on kit, add great pops of color too!
Kim Watson+Be Cool & Wild+HK06For another yellow accent to complete the yellow visual triangle, I painted a Freckled Fawn wood veneer sentiment, found in the PL add-on kit.

Kim Watson+Be Cool & Wild+HK07Next I created a title cluster which is a combination of a PL card, cut into a tag shape, alpha stickers, found both in the September main kit & embellishment add-on kit & some of the gorgeous Amy Tangerine puffy stickers.

Kim Watson+Be Cool & Wild+HK08Lastly came my smaller photographs & journal strips. Sometimes trying an allegorical approach to your page design using symbolic representation to get a mood or feeling across, really helps see things differently; I did this by using the word ‘wild’ & the animal motifs. Together the title & theme reference really compliment the photos & page theme.

As you can see…the September kits are going to be SUPER fun to create with. For more inspiration, be sure to watch the blog & Hip Kit Club facebook page, there are some fabulous new things afoot, so be prepared!

Have a great weekend!
