Happy Tuesday, Hip Kit fans! Missy here. I have a really fun layout to share today using the 2015 August Hip Kits! I got a little creative with the Dylusions Paints from the Color Kit on this page. I started with the Rise & Shine background paper and added a bit of white gesso. I used my circle ink blending tool with the spongy foam piece on the end and dipped a bit of the yellow paint on one side and the pink on the other. I smudged it around a bit and then squirted some water directly on to the foam and then smushed it and turned it onto the paper. It blended the two colors together and made a really cool effect! This is a super fun thing to try if you like circles. I also used a few of the exclusive stencils from the Color Kit as well.
Here’s a close up of the painted smushed circles…don’t they look cool? I love the hints of orange where they blended together. You can also try to just stamp the foam down to get a bit of a different look. I hand drew a big heart on the background and then stitched it several times using black thread. That cute “Smile” puffy sticker is from Pinkfresh Studio.
Here’s a look a the bottom. I used a strip of the charcoal cardstock to line the bottom of the page and some of the Dear Lizzy washi tape under it. I stitched through it all and added some of the script alphas from Pinkfresh as well as some of the wood grain Thickers and a Freckled Fawn chipboard heart.
I love the dimension created here. I pulled one of the Rise & Shine chipboard frames from my April kit since it went perfectly with this background paper (same collection) and then layered some of the Fine & Dandy chipboard and a Crate Paper camera die cut on top of it. That cute felt heart is Crate Paper as well as the enamel dots and sequin.
One more look at the awesome background…I really hope you try this technique! It was fun and the result is just awesome.
You can check out my process video on how to do this background and how I created this layout from start to finish. I hope it inspires you in some way!
