Hi! Irit here today with a new layout using the summery fun July kits. Today I’m scrapbooking big! Big photo, big embellishments, big impact. Here’s my finished layout-
I love combining big photos in my albums. It can really give the viewer a feeling of a place or mood. There’s nothing too special about this photo, a very regular moment in our vacation. But it’s all there, girl, sea, pebbles. I chose a subtle pattern for my background. Because the photo is not busy with only a pop of color from my daughter’s swimsuit, it really allowed me to have fun with patterns and embellishments. If your photo is very busy, consider printing it in black and white. I wanted pops of patters from all the awesome papers in the main kit, but I didn’t want to overwhelm the page, so I used a punch and created those border pieces. The hand stitching grounds everything and gives it a more organized look. Next came playtime with embellishments!
I used chipboard pieces from the main kit, cork pieces from the embellishment kit and some stickers and word thickers from the June kits that coordinated perfectly with the other elements. After building that border cluster I felt the layout needed something more on the other side for balance. So I added another embellishment cluster, repeating elements but in smaller doses.
Here’s a video showing the entire process-
I hope you feel inspired to scrapbook a large photo! I’ll be back next Thursday with a new project. Have a lovely day!
