Scrap it ‘Grid Style’ | Kim Watson

Happy Saturday friends!

I hope you are having a wonderful day wherever you might be on this pretty afternoon.

After the rush of the NSD crop last weekend, I felt inspired to try something a little out of my comfort zone. I thought I’d create a page, ‘Grid-Style’. I find scrapping using this technique is a great way to work in straight lines, with an overall linear page layout, as well as incorporate the beauty of the principle of thirds 😀

This page was put together using more gorgeous products from the March 2015 kit…I just can’t seem to get enough of it hehe!

I created this BONUS sketch, based on my page design, for you to use:

Cutting patterned paper into 2.4″ x 2.4″ squares meant I was able to use many of the paper pieces left over from my other completed layouts. This gave me four rows to play with. Some of the squares were left plain & others decorated with clusters of embellishments for interest.
Kim Watson+Hello Life+HKC04The title was positioned a third of the up the page, on the third square along for perfect balance. Combining a wood veneer title with alpha stickers creates lovely interest as well as texture. Kim Watson+Hello Life+HKC05Please excuse the wonky journaling LOL, I typed straight onto the label & it shifted half way though. Fussy cut flowers from the MME paper add a little something special to the journal tag.

The crate chipboard frames are so cool with the hints of gold foil…perfect for a little photo frame.  Again, fussy cut flowers & small accents clusters help create visual triangles & color balance. I hope you have found this inspiring. Remember to post your work in the Members Forum on Facebook, for us to see.

This kit is filled with wonderful colors, & patterned papers!  If you didn’t get a chance to pick up an April or May Hip Kits, then make sure you stop by the Hip Kit online store & grab one while stocks last!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
