Hey there! Irit here with two fun layouts to start the week with and maybe kill your September kit before digging into those October kit goodies… I almost totally killed my September kit. I’m down to literally one small piece of pattern paper, and I would have used it on this page, but I decided to hoard it a little… It is Crate paper after all…
Anyway… Here’s an idea to try when left with only a few pieces of patterned paper. I decided to cut them down to smaller size, and then adhered them slightly off set, to create a more interesting pattern. This works especially well with small patterns, like here in the papers from Theresa Collins and Studio Calico.
Next tip for stretching your kit- use some mixed media! I did not get the color add on for September, simply because I already own those lovely Faber-Castell gelato colors. Before adding the gelatos, I applied some gesso with a dry baby wipe, my other favorite way to apply gesso these days (the first one is with a palette knife). I added the gelatos generously, and decided to try not using water, like I always do, but instead just used my fingers to blend them. This was super easy, thanks to the gesso, and the effect is quite different than when using water. It’s more of a pastel or oil pastel, and the color stays really bright.
For my title I used the Studio Calico wood veneers (love them!), and added the word summer using the glitter thickers, I really love that pop of blue.
The second page is a good idea for a ‘no-brainer’ layout sort-of-speak. When in doubt- go monochromatic! So I pulled lots of the lovely aquas and mints from all the different products in the kit for this page.
I hope you like my layouts, and I hope you’ll join me for some fun time this coming Saturday, I’ll be challenging you to use the October color kit add on during Hip Kit Club’s first online crop. Can’t wait! Have a great week!
