Hey Hipsters! Surprise Surprise!!! It’s Mandy on my new blog day Friday. That’s right I have been moved to Fridays! So I’m thinking I call these Friday’s will y’all…The Friday 5 with Mandy”.
On this First Friday 5… I’m going to share 5 things I did while creating this layout.
Number 1: The first thing was using this AWESOME Webster’s Page’s pattern paper. I love this paper, but I wasn’t sure what to do with… it til now. Using the Elle’s Studio alphabet stickers for my journaling was perfect filler for the circle and a great use for this page.
Number 2: Using a black and white photo let me pull all the different colors in the kit without limiting me. It also didn’t limit the pattern use. As you can see I used the October Afternoon Stars washi tape with the DIY chevron roller stamp from our May Stamp Add-On Kit, and that woodgrain Elle’s Studio Alpha from our June main kit.
Number 3: Layers! If you haven’t figured it out yet, I am the biggest fan of layers. Using a little bit of several different products included on our June kits.. Here I layered some of the Echo Park stickers along with pattern papers and my photo. Just have fun using layers on your projects.
Number 4: Keep it odd…you want to add an odd number of embellishments to your layouts, and space them randomly throughout your page. There are 9 green Studio Calico stars scattered about on this layout along with 3 hearts and 1 butterfly.
Number 5: Just when you think your done, add just 1 tiny thing a dot, the date, initials, a staple, something little to give your page a nice finishing touch and you can call it done. I thought I was done but kept going back to my page thinking that it needed just a little something extra. I added the hashtags at the top of my layout to get it to flow just right. Now I’m Happy with the finished project!
This is a super duper quick card! Grab your washi tape to create the background, a couple tags, some scrap pieces of paper, a sticker sentiment, and chipboard arrow. Week after week I say this, but seriously when it comes to cards it has to be quick and simple and this one is just that. With the Webster’s Page’s paper, and Echo Park Capture Life tickers this card came together in about 10 minutes. I don’t consider myself a card girl, but I try. NO card is complete without 3D foam squares to add some dimension – as you can see in the detail shot.
I hope you’re able to use some of these tips and tricks next time you’re creating. I would love to see what you’ve been up to, so please share. Also if you have something you’d like to see here on the blog let me know in the comments section below. Thanks so much for joining me today! See you next Friday! xo – Mandy
