Hey Hipster’s! Mandy here with you sharing a few more of my creative tricks I used to create this “Right Here” layout with our June 2014 Hip Kit & Add-On Kits.

Trick number one:  Just because an Embellishment Add-On Kit is labeled for certain use does not mean you have to use it that way! Think outside the box. I’ve probably said this in previous posts and will say it a million more times but really think outside the box, when it comes to scrapbooking it’s all about you and your memories so make your style shine on your projects. EXAMPLE –  I used the Elle’s Studio Die Cut shapes to create the banner with my photo and journaling all mushed in together.

Trick  number 2:  Just because it doesn’t match the topic you’re scrapbooking doesn’t mean you can’t use it on your layout!  If you like it use it!!  EXAMPLE – the Glitter Thickers weren’t really the best fit for this layout, normally I would have gone with something more simple or plain but I love that font, and to be honest I love gold right now too.  So, I decided to use them on my page; and hey, I love it how it looks.

Trick number 3:  When you have 3-D or bulkier embellishments add foam squares under your photos and layers to give added dimension.

Trick number 4:  When stitching on scrapbook pages whether it be by hand or with a sewing machine,  take your time, practice, and be ready for imperfection. Love the stitched look and the imperfection too.

Trick Number 5:  When you are feeling uninspired or just keep pushing your products around, try stepping away from that project to create something on a smaller scale.  It just might get those creative juices flowing. EXAMPLE – “the best part of Summer” tag was created after I had pushed around idea after idea for my card this week. Nothing seemed to be working or looking right, so I pulled out a tag and within 15 minutes I had created this fun tag that I will include on a package I’m sending to a friend next week. This tag has stamping, washi tape, stickers, wood veneer, and pattern paper on it. Pretty fun and simple plus it totally got me back on track creatively.
