Sketches are a fun way to create a layout, whether you’re using it as is, or as a jumping off point for your layout. If you are stuck for a design, sometimes it’s easier to sit down and draw out a sketch for your page or use a Sketch from one of your favorite Sketch sites. When I first started using Sketches, I always stayed close to the Sketch design, until I felt comfortable changing things up, to create unique looks for my pages. We have a fun Sketch that I created for the month of May, for you to play along with, and I wanted to share my take on it. I used a mix of the Heidi Swapp and Pink Paislee papers, included in the May 2014 Hip Kit. I stayed fairly close to the Sketch, and gave it an individual look with my embellishments and by adding the cut Chevron pieces around the sides of my layout, for some extra energy and motion. You can play along with the Sketch and link up your layout by May 31st, for the chance to win some Hip Kit goodies!!
We have a fun set of Cut Files this month, and I decided to use the sun file on my card. It worked perfectly with the Chipboard Hello Sunshine sentiment from the Pink Paislee Hello Sunshine collection. And since I was working with a card size, and didn’t want to cut any of the patterned papers in the May 2014 Hip Kit, I chose a few of the patterns included in the Capture Snippets pad from Basic Grey, to use as my card background.
