Hey friends! I am so excited to share this stunning layout from our incredibly talented design team member, Anke Kramer. Anke created a beautiful scrapbook page using the February 2026 Hip Kits, and she is walking us through how she builds up texture and dimension through layering and hand stitching. If you have ever looked at a layout and wondered how crafters get that gorgeous, tactile, almost three-dimensional look, this is the video for you. Anke uses die cuts from the February 2026 Embellishment Kit, the February 2026 Cardstock Kit, and even pulls in the January 2026 Raffle Tickets Metal Die Set to create the most charming ticket strip accents.
Want to create layouts like this? Our monthly kits include coordinated papers, embellishments, and supplies to bring your scrapbook pages to life.
What I love about Anke’s process is how she builds everything up in layers, combining patterned paper from the February 2026 Main Kit with cardstock die cuts, puffy stickers, and hand-stitched details to create a page that is absolutely bursting with personality. She makes it look so effortless, but every little element is placed with intention. Whether you are new to mixed-technique layouts or you have been scrapping for years, Anke’s tips on using foam tape for dimension and adding simple stitching are ones you will want to try on your very next page. Grab your kits and let’s get crafting together!
Step-by-Step Tutorial
Step 1: Cut Ticket Strips from Patterned Paper
Start by cutting out ticket strips and tickets from the Tag You’re It patterned paper in your February 2026 Main Kit. These little strips are going to become the foundation for your layered background, so take your time cutting them neatly. Set them aside for now because you will be building on them throughout the entire layout.
Step 2: Layer Photos with Die Cuts
Grab your photos and start layering them with die cuts from the Cardstock Tags and Bits Die Cuts pack, the Cardstock Ephemera pack, and the Floral Die Cuts pack from your February 2026 Embellishment Kit. Anke uses foam tape and foam pads underneath the die cuts to add real dimension, so the layers literally pop up off the page. This is one of the easiest ways to make your layout feel rich and tactile.
Step 3: Die Cut Ticket Strips from Cardstock
Using the January 2026 Raffle Tickets Metal Die Set, cut ticket strips and tickets from both light blue and dark blue cardstock from your February 2026 Cardstock Kit. Having these in coordinating solid colors gives you a great contrast against the patterned paper tickets you cut earlier. The mix of patterned and solid ticket strips adds so much visual interest to the page.
Step 4: Arrange Your Layered Elements
Now it is time to arrange all of your ticket strips and tickets on the layout, then place your photo and die cut cluster on top. This is where the magic really starts to happen as you see all those layers coming together. Play around with the placement until it feels balanced, and do not be afraid to overlap elements for a more dynamic look.
Step 5: Add Whimsical Accents
Cut the clouds from the Rainbow Die Cuts and add them to your page for a playful touch. Anke also punches birds from white cardstock and tucks them into the design, which gives the layout a sweet, whimsical feel. These little unexpected details are what take a layout from nice to truly special.
Step 6: Pierce Holes and Hand Stitch
Here is where the texture really comes alive. Pierce small holes through your paper layers and add hand stitching using embroidery floss or thread. Anke keeps her stitching simple but intentional, and it adds a handmade, cozy quality that you just cannot get any other way. Do not worry about making it perfectly even because a little imperfection is part of the charm.
Step 7: Create a Layered Title Element
Choose a cardstock sticker for your title, glue it onto white cardstock, and then cut around it to create a small border. This little trick gives your title extra weight and makes it stand out against all the other layers on the page. Attach it to your layout and you are almost done.
Step 8: Finish with Nuvo Drops
For the final touch, add some light blue Nuvo Drops to your layout. These tiny dimensional dots catch the light and tie your color palette together beautifully. Let them dry completely before handling your page, and then step back and admire all that gorgeous texture and dimension you just created.
