JANUARY SKETCH CHALLENGE | Morag Cutts

Hi friend.  I am taking part in the January sketch challenge this week and using the beautiful December kits.  Interestingly, I used the sketch for my last layout, but they look totally different!

As I had stuck to the sketch last time, this week, I rotated it so that the vertical elements were now horizontal.  I replace the chevrons with snowflakes which I had die-cut using the new and stunning dies.  They cut through the cardstock like butter!

To make the background more interesting, I created a huge tag – I adore tags as they give the opportunity to add a ribbon!  I love the pretty pink pattern on the dark navy blue – it really pops!

You can see I placed a line of snowflakes going across before adding my photos.  I had cut them in pink, baby blue and white – the designs are amazing and intricate.  Now I did go off piste a little with my flower cluster.  Who could resist those incredible die-cut flowers from the Embellishment kit?

They look amazing layered over the snowflakes.  I fussy cut some leaves from the Hooray! paper in the Main Kit – I love the dark leaves against the flowers.

To balance things, I created another cluster on the opposite side and tucked in more snowflakes, flowers and those cute little cardstock flag stickers.  I love those Wood Grain Puffy Stickers – so clever!  They add fantastic texture to your pages.

You can watch my process on YouTube:

I hope that you will join in the challenge this week – you have plenty of time – just upload your layout to the Facebook Group by Thursday, February 2nd.  You can be in with a chance to win $25 to spend in store!

You can grab these stunning dies kits here – there are only a few left of some of the kits so don’t miss out!

  1. What a new layout and I love how you flipped it and made it your own!

  2. Turning a sketch sideways to get another take? I never would have thought of that. What a difference it makes though.
