Hello craft Paperlovers, Welcome to the HKC blog today. It’s cutfile Tuesday and today is all about family traditions! I created a scrapbook layout about celebrating St. Nicholas. Every year on December 5th, St. Nicholas brings presents. Children sing , dance and eat pepernoten (pepernoten is a typically Dutch word, they are little cookies shaped like little nuts) We still celebrate St. Nicholas at our home every year and make surprises with a poem and a present for each other. I love this family tradition.
I started by punching borders from the design paper from the October 2021 Hip Kits. I used different border punches. These strips I cut to size and place behind my heart that I cut with my Cricut “Maker” this cutfile can be found in the October cutfile downloads. On my white cardstock background, I stitch a circle with gold sewing thread. I place my cutfile in the center of the circle. I use 3D tape to hold the cutfile in place.
I cut different flowers from the design paper and make a big cluster on the right side of the photo. Using the different die-cuts I selected, I make another cluster on the left side of the photo. I cut some designer paper to size and put it behind the photo, creating extra layers, then I glued two more cardstock word strips on top of the photo.
I decide to write down on the white cardstock on the inside of the circle the lyrics of a St. Nicholas song we used to sing with the kids. I used the beautiful dark blue alpha along with the small alpha set for the title of this layout. I am in love with the beautiful and elegant dark blue alpha font. The wooden wood veneer leaves fit great between the flowers clusters
I make some mixed media splashes with the beautiful blue purple glitter spray from the October color kit. I love the subtle splashes on my layout. I hope I was able to inspire you with this layout for cutfile Tuesday. I had a lot of fun with my border punches and this beautiful cutfile. I wish you a very happy and creative day and until next time friends!
