MIXED MEDIA MONDAY LAYOUT by Anke Kramer

Hello Hip Kit friends,  Anke here, sharing a new layout featuring the September Hip kits. The assignment for today’s Mixed Media Monday was to recolor leftovers or packaging to stretch the kit.

I chose pieces of the Pinkfresh Studio Days of Splendor  embellishment packaging which has a beautiful leaf print.

First I punched out some leaves and colored them using a paint brush and two of the Lindy’s Stamp Gang Magical Pigment Powders which are included in the September Color Kit. Then I used the Clam Bake Beige Magical Powder to create a watercolor background. Therefore I applied the powder on my cardstock and added water with a paint brush. Once the color was dry I added some red and brown color splatters and backed the page with the Maggie Holmes – Marigold – Stay True Paper.

I layered my photo with pieces of the Pinkfresh Studio packaging and the Maggie Holmes Marigold – Stay True Paper  and placed the punched and colored leaves at the upper left and the bottom right corner, combined with some of the Pinkfresh Studio – Days of Splendor – Mixed Ephemera and Floral Ephemera and one of the Pinkfresh Studio Chipboard Flairs. Ephemera and Flairs are included in the September Main Kit and the September Embellishment Kit.

If you look at the painted leaves you can see that the print is still visible.

I also added two of the  Jen Hadfield The Avenue – Wood Veneer Frames which you can find in the September Embellishment Kit.

In the bottom right corner of my layout I placed two paper strips, one from the Pinkfresh Studio  packaging an one from the Maggie Holmes Marigold Stay True Paper, and embellished them with some of the colored leaves, a floral die cut , another chipboard flair and stickers. Finally I added some enamel dots ( included in the September Pocket Life Kit )and the rest of the colored leaves.

I love how the layout turned out and I hope I could inspire you to incorporate some of your leftovers and packaging in your next project.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Anke xx

  1. I love that you do 9×12. I do 8.5×11 so it’s nice to see using kits on something other than 12×12 Lovely fall LO
