Happy Saturday!

Today I want to share a layout that I created with our February 2013 Hip Kit and a photo from my daughter’s Iphone.  The quality of the photo isn’t great – but it captured the moment and the love that Madeleine has for these two adorable kids that she babysits.

I absolutely love the background of my page!!!  Painting with mists to create your own background is a really popular trend right now.  I had never tried it before… but let me tell you that it is SOOOOO EASY!!!!

First…  I needed to determine the basic layout of my page.  So, I chose a few patterned papers from my kit and began layering them under my photo – without gluing anything down.  Next, using a pencil I lightly sketched a heart onto the kraft cardstock background and  I removed the photo and patterned papers and set them aside. Next, I painted over the sketched heart using the applicator from my Dewey and Schoolhouse Mister Huey Mist.  I also added a few mist splatters throughout the page.  After the mist was dry, I added the patterned paper and photo back onto my page and added some other details.I cut the title for my page out of one of the 5×7 note card in the Glitz This & That Die Cut pack.  I loved the sentiment, but the card itself was too large for this project. There is always a story for every photo… and often times the story is long enough to take up a substantial amount of space on my page.  Therefore, I often include my journaling hidden on a tag tucked behind a photo or one of the layers on my page.  I usually add a tab, ribbon or a button to the end of the tag – so the tag can easily be pulled out and the journaling can be read. I added a chipboard arrow pointing towards the tag…  as a little message to let you know that there is something hidden on the tag.  😀  
I stamped the “happy place” sentiment with the Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm Phrase roller stamp that was included in our February Embellishment Add-On Kit.  So cute!!!  The little heart was from our Project Life Add-On Kit.  All of the goodies in our PL Add-On Kits are perfect for both traditional and PL layouts.
